The 19th World Championship Scotch Pie Awards is now closed for entries. Carol Smillie will once again host the awards lunch on the 9th January 2018 at The Westerwood Hotel.
The World Championship Scotch Pie Awards was launched in 1999 by proud butcher and baker Alan Stuart with an aim to focus on quality and innovation. Since then the competition has gone from strength to strength seeing hundreds of Butchers and Bakers compete with each other to win the coveted title – World Champion Scotch Pie
The competition has generated over £400K of press and media attention over the years including the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Radio 2 and STVs Live at Five.
The World Championship Scotch Pie Awards is not only a competition to find the best Scotch Pie but awards are also given to a number of different types of pies and savouries including the Macaroni Pie, which was added to the 2017 competition as a new category.
The competition is open to registered food businesses. Each company is permitted one entry for the Scotch Pie, Sausage Roll, Bridie, Macaroni, Apple Pie categories and up to five savoury products including hand held Steak Pie, Hot or Cold Savoury, Haggis Savoury and Vegetarian Savoury.
The competition also encompasses the Best Football Pie or Savoury award.
Products are anonymously judged by a panel of expert and independent judges, with Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond awards presented at an awards lunch held in January.
